Angthong Marine Park Kayaking Tour Thailand
Ang Thong National Marine Park
Ang Thong National Marine Park is a protected nature area consisting of over 40 islands. All of the islands are uninhabited and undeveloped except for one. This island, Koh Paluay, is inhabited by “sea-gypsies” who still earn a living from fishing. The island looks like what Koh Samui or Koh Phangan used to look like 30 years ago, prior to the arrival of tourism and modern infrastructure. The Angthong Marine Park is famous for its natural beauty untouched by development.
There is a considerable amount of wildlife inhabiting the islands including the Asian long-tailed monkey (langur), hair-nosed otters, pacific reef egrets, white-bellied sea eagles, ashy drongos, tortoises, sea turtles, lizards, common sandpiper, edible nest swiflet, oriental pied horn bill, southern pied horn bill, and pythons. The surrounding sea is also the major spawning ground for the short-bodied mackerel, a tasty Thai delicacy. Snorkeling, rainforest walking, exploring caves, viewpoints swimming and occasionally scuba diving are the most popular attractions of the region.
Koh Wao, one of the best snorkeling spot of the Chinese sea, where you will discover the marvelous underwater realm. This location has a mix of hard and soft corals, with star and table stag horn corals. Observe also thousands of reef fishes like fusiliers, yellow tails, angel fishes, butterfly fishes, snappers, gropers, cods, moray eels, etc… Our tour guide will provide help and information for beginners.
The best time to visit this archipelago is late January to October when visibility for snorkeling and diving is at its best. Get a few friends together and charter a boat so that you can explore the marvels of the ‘Golden Basin’ (Angthong Marine Park) in your own time.On the larger islands with areas of undisturbed forest many species of animals are present.
